Sprint Programs

Junior/Development – Ages 9+

This program is designed to be an introduction to the sport of sprint canoe and kayak for young athletes. The program is fitness based and offers three practices per week (typically Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday). The goal of the program is to introduce athletes to the fundamentals of sprint paddling, and begin preparing them for higher intensity training through future programs and competitions. Athletes as young as nine years old can be eligible to join the program, while the upper age limit is non restrictive. If you want your young athletes to give the sport a try this is a good place to start!

High Performance Competitive – Ages Range

The high performance program is for those athletes that are able to demonstrate the fundamentals of the sport, as well as show that they are driven by progress. This is not a program for beginner athletes or people new to the sport. Due to safety precautions, it is important to RCKC that those who are registered for the High Performance Program are ready physically and have high understanding of the sport demands and equipment. Athletes will train to better the team and themselves as they work toward national and international competitions. If an athlete is considering joining this program they must receive coaches permission.

Masters – Ages 20-70+

This adult program is centered around a fun, fitness based program geared towards an “active for life” style of training. Adult members in this program may be looking to be competitive or simply enjoy the sport and use the practices for fun and to maintain good health. The masters program boasts one of the most welcoming environments to all adults wishing to try sprint paddling, and no past experience is required. The program runs three days per week, and all competitions are optional.

We look forward to hearing from you!
